The Secret to Soft and Supple Skin: 4 Body Care Routine Upgrades You Need

Skin care is not as easy as it sounds. Proper body care is often ignored despite our knowledge about facial care. While we tend to invest in high-end facial products and detailed nighttime routines, we neglect the importance of hydrating our body’s skin.

We readily spend on a 50 ml face cream but hesitate to invest in a 500 ml body cream. It’s important to care for areas like the neck, hands, feet, elbows, and knees as diligently as we care for our face, as the skin all over our body needs daily attention.

1. Moisturizing is key, particularly after a shower, as skipping body moisturizer can result in dry, dull, and tight skin. Excessive use of soaps can strip your skin’s natural protective barrier, so it’s advisable to reduce soap usage and apply cream daily, especially after using hot water. Using products tailored to different body areas is also recommended.

2. While body oils are popular, they don’t truly hydrate the skin. Body oils nourish and soften the skin, they don’t provide the necessary hydration. It’s important to complement oils with creams or lotions that deliver the essential aqueous actives your skin needs.

3. Exfoliating is beneficial for skin regeneration and oil production balance, but excessive exfoliation can cause skin imbalances. It’s best to exfoliate two to three times a week and to adjust the frequency if your skin shows signs of redness or increased oiliness.

4. Introducing new products gradually is important to avoid the ‘plot effect’, which is the disappointment when a product doesn’t meet your expectations. This is especially crucial for products with active ingredients like retinol or exfoliating acids. It’s recommended to follow the instructions and give your skin time to adjust to new products.

By following these simple steps, you can achieve hydrated, healthy skin and provide the care and attention your body deserves.
