The fashion world is experiencing improvement in the Boho-Chic trend of the mid-aughts, which was predicted in the Spring 2024 jewellery trend report. This trend is characterized by flouncy blouses, leather capelets, and golden and animal jewellery.
The fall 2024 fashion shows featured tales of different jewellery that contextualised the boho aesthetic in the current year. While there is no prediction of an immediate trend revival, the jewellery trends from the new collections offer a new perspective on the boho-chic trend.
1. Minimal drop pendants were the common trend with many designers suspending polished stones and abstract metal shapes from thin chains and leather ropes. Animal motifs also made a comeback, with Chloé reviving its snake motif and casting mini horse heads out of antique gold while Jonathan Anderson had tiny doves painted on signet rings.
2. Silky necklaces are also in trend and offer comfort in the face of the world’s harsh realities. Calder-esque earrings and sculptural necklaces and brooches offer an emotive expressive alternative to the quiet luxury trend that is now feeling played out.
The fall 2024 collection has nine jewellery trends, which include Pendulum Swing, Tinseltown, Full-Look Only, Built-In, Face Card, Twists and Turns, Animal Kingdom, Link Up, and Look at My Calder.
These trends feature long chains and suspended stones or sculptures, tinselly textures and sparkles, matchy-matchy fabric jewellery for easy styling, jewellery that comes with the look, funky face motifs, sheet metals bent and folded into new volumes, chunky chains to wear over fall knits, and artistic, expressive new shapes of the classic chandelier earring.
